How To Apply

Make an application.

To apply to adopt, just simply complete and submit an application form. We cannot accept applications to adopt a dog until they have been advertised as ready for adoption or a shout-out has been put on our Facebook page. Please only apply when you are ready to commit.

We also recommend that you download and read our Fostering Guidelines.

We will then process the form, and organise a homecheck. Please ensure you have supplied two references (not relatives) with their contact information. Your referees must have known you for a minimum of three years.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE RUN BY AN ARMY OF VOLUNTEERS WHO GIVE UP THEIR FREE TIME FOR US. IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO COMMIT OR ARE JUST THINKING ABOUT IT - PLEASE WAIT UNTIL YOU ARE SURE.

We aim to acknowledge all emails within 5 working days. So please be patient as all our staff are volunteers.

YOUR HOMECHECK

A volunteer will visit you at home or we may do it virtually and help you complete another form. We will also check that your home is suitable and safe for a foster dog (or to rehome). We will ask for some photographs of any animals you have, your garden and where the potential dog will sleep or be allowed access to.

We will also ask to see a photo ID and proof of address.

Your completed homecheck is then passed back to the Homecheck Team for approval, and we’ll let you know if you have passed or not.

We do homechecks AFTER we have received back your references.

what happens next ?

If you apply to adopt a particular dog, we will let you know by email or messaging if you are successful or unsuccessful. Once you've submitted an application, you don't need to do one for every dog you apply for. Just express your interest here, and we'll consider you. We aim to let you know our decision within 3 days of the closing date.

WE DO NOT HAVE ANY CONTROL OVER WHEN OR WHERE DOGS WILL BE SURRENDERED, SO PLEASE LET US KNOW IF ANY OF YOUR DETAILS CHANGE OR YOU NO LONGER WISH TO ADOPT THROUGH US.
